Ms. Harris' Weekly Update
December 9th-13th
What's Going On This Week:
- Ms. Harris' Social Studies: We will continue with our Industry and Immigration unit this week, finishing our Industrial Revolution posters. We will also start discussing how the wave of European Immigrants changed the culture of America. There will not be a unit test on this unit since winter break starts next week. We will, however, take a short quiz on Industry and Immigration on Monday the 16th or Tuesday the 17th. This will cover the two pages of notes that students have in their notebooks.
- Ms. Harris' GT Math/ELA: This week in math we will start our new unit on the Order of Operations. Students will learn how to evaluate numerical expressions that include parenthesis and exponents. We will continue taking timed tests on Mondays and Thursdays. In ELA, students will analyze a passage about holiday waste. They will create and answer questions about the passage, as well as create an advertisement for creating less waste during the holidays. We will also participate in different reader's theater plays which we will present on Monday the 16th. Students' spelling tests will be this Friday. They have an ABC sort due on Wednesday and then two dessert options (from the spelling menu) due on Friday.
FMES Holiday Lunch!
If you RSVP'd to attend our Holiday Lunch, we encourage you to please pay online by this Friday using the link below (Pay Fees link). Payment using cash/check will be accepted Monday, but you will have to stand in line so be sure to arrive a little early.
Angel Tree
Thank you to all who have adopted FMES angels! We still have almost 100 outstanding angels that need to be adopted. If you are able to help, there are some families that would really appreciate it. As a friendly reminder, ALL items are due WRAPPED IN A GIFT BAG no later than Wednesday, DECEMBER 11TH.
Holiday Card Time!
In preparation for our Holiday Lunch on December 16th, we would love to decorate our hallway with Holiday cards or pictures from our wonderful FMES families. If you send cards to your friends and family and have an extra, please send them to your child’s teacher. If you don’t have one, but would still like to participate, you can send a printed family picture!
Thank you for helping us celebrate this wonderful season!
