If you are interested in becoming a content/tech specialist please make sure you apply to the posting. There will not be another posting so if you are interested... apply!
-Candidates that meet posting requirements must go through a multi-tiered process consisting of an in-basket activity and interviews.
-Acceptance and rejection notifications will be sent to all applicants. Principals will be granted access to the list of qualified candidates in Schoology.
-All individuals that qualify for the pool remain eligible for two years.
-Qualifying for the pool does not guarantee a position at a campus.
-Campuses with vacancies in these areas must interview and select candidates from the pool.
Summer School
Ms. Matchett will be our Summer School Coordinator. More information about applying to teach SS will be coming soon. Summer School will be held at O'Donnell Middle School.
Upcoming STAAR Testing
Be sure to talk to your students about the new procedures, especially the change from seal to no seal. I am sure no student will want to take TWO tests in one day! You have been preparing your students through the curriculum, your activities, your discussions and your assessments. It is now their time to shine. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Barnes. Remember to read your manual!
Consistency is Key
In order to "run program" at AMS we need 100% of the staff on the same page. We cannot let up or the students will figure out that they can get away with certain violations and they will use that against us. If you see a student with their hoodie on, tell them to take it off. If a student does not have an ID (permanent or temp) send him/her to get one. We need to be consistent if we are going to change their habits. Lead by example, keep emotions out of it (they did not wake up with a plan to upset you), and address the violation in a professional and calm way.
Dismissal Procedures
This is an area where we need to improve. We are still seeing students leave their classrooms before their mode of transportation is called. This creates a lot of confusion for us in the hallways. If you are a classroom teacher, your dismissal should be:
- Silent - students need to be able to hear announcements. There should not be talking or moving around the classroom.
- Organized - You should have a list of your students and how they go home so you can check them off as they exit.
What system do you have in place to keep your students safe?
Don't forget to fill out the staffing survey below! Thanks to those that have already done it.

Content Feature - Special Education Department
Every member of the SPED team has partnered together and with general education teachers to help students become life long learners in all content areas. We want them to close the gap between them and their non disabled peers.
