What's Happening in Class?
I am honored to be able to partner with Chief Phillip Reed and Detective Bruce Collins to teach Forensic Science. In this class, students are learning through research, hands-on experience and by listening to guest lecturers who are professionals in the field. This is a unique experience for high school students and we are excited to be able to offer it.
Topics we have already learned about:
1. The basics of crime scene procedures.
2. The codes, 10-codes and signals commonly used by law enforcement.
3. The differences in mental states (KRS) and how that affects what a person is charged with and what the penalty might be. We were fortunate to have Commonwealth Attorney Rick Bartley as a guest lecturer on this subject recently. (See the picture below.)
We are currently studying impression evidence and will be casting molds of tire track and/or shoe prints in the next few days.
