News from the Art Room

Welcome (Back), Ms. Hiatt

Everyone, Meet Lisa

Jumping over from the BVA, we welcome Lisa Hiatt back to Spencer. Lisa was our building sub last year as she plugged in after a move back to Michigan from Florida. She has taken the Art position for the Roadrunners and the kids are making Art again. She graduated from Albion College and has a double major in Art and Physical Education/Health. She is excited to begin her 15th year of education with the Brighton Area Schools. Her two daughters attend Spencer along with her 2 nieces and a nephew.

News from Physical Education

PE News:
Happy New Year! This month in Physical Education we will be learning some dances. My Google Classroom has tutorials if you want to learn at home too!!
Google Classroom code is: oot3o7o
The “o” is a letter not a number!

Please send athletic shoes with your students each day so they can participate safely. Winter boots are bulky and prone to flying off during running/play/games.

Finally, if your student is learning to tie his/her shoes, there are some great links and videos online to help them be successful.
A few minutes of practice each day with your child will master this skill quickly!
Thank you and have a most wonderful 2021!

Holiday Shop

Thank you for your participation in our annual Holiday Shop, keeping the fun tradition alive virtually. Although we do not run the shop as a fundraiser, Fun Services does give back a percentage of sales to our PTO. Thanks to our Spencer shoppers, we earned $274.46.

Counselor Corner!

Happy New Year from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. McKiddy! We hope you had a well rested, and memory filled, time with your loved ones. For the month of January, we are taking time to further acknowledge and support that extra added stress this crazy year has brought us. We are diving into mindfulness, coping skills, and other practices that treat the mind, body, and soul. The goal of these lessons is to promote self-regulation and self-reflection in our young learners, as well as to practice a sense of peace and calm during our days.

Lets Connect: If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed here at school.

More Resources: We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home!
