Greetings!

This week, we will begin our unit on fractions!
Science
Writing
This is an opportunity for us to tap into our creative side and to express and celebrate who we are!
Days of the week and months of the year
Months of the year: We will be reviewing the months of the year in order from January to December and students will have a quiz on Friday. I have noticed that the majority of our class cannot list the months of the year in order. If you would like to review this with your children throughout the week, I encourage you to. I believe this is very important for them to know.
MAP Test and mCLASS Results
I would like to take the time to review the results from mCLASS and MAP tests with each student individually before sending them home. You can expect your child's scores to come home sometime this week. I will place them in an envelope together, this way they will be private and stay in a safe place.
Homework
Math packets from last week were sent home with your child on Friday. A sticker on the front page means they received full credit for effort!
Math packets this week: We will begin our studies in fractions through the Common Core aligned math and language arts program, Engage New York (NY). Each lesson is set up to have students complete a worksheet for homework each night. I will make a packet that will cover our week's content that will be sent home Monday (maybe not until Tuesday due to the delay today!) and will be due on Friday.
Students should do the homework that corresponds to each day's lesson. For example, Lesson 1's homework is labeled "Lesson 1 Homework", which should be done on Monday... There will be Lessons 1-4 Homework within the packet.
We will be going over each of the lesson's homework the following day in class first thing to make sure the content is making sense.
**Since we will be going over homework packets each day in class, please help your children get them back in their take home folders each night, and I will remind them as well!**
