2023-2024 Student Course Requests
- December: Electives Expo Program
- December: Teachers make recommendations based on current course grades and student skills and aptitudes
- January-February: Counselors meet with students individually to discuss interests and post high school goals. Students finalize a list of course requests with their counselor on the Infinite Campus Academic Plan.
- April: Parents may view the Academic Plan on the portal.
After July 31, no requests for a class change will be honored**
June-August: Schedules are finalized by the School Counselors Late August: Schedules are available for student view on Infinite Campus Portal
The school cannot guarantee any student his or her choice of a specific teacher or class period for a course or for lunch. We are committed to providing everything necessary for students to complete requirements for graduation successfully; however, the size of the school and complexity of the schedule make honoring personal preferences impossible. We appreciate your understanding.
Honors Course Requests & Prerequisites:
Please note that honors course requests are conditional and based upon earning a 90% or higher final course average in the prerequisite course. Students who requested an honors course and have an average less than 90% in the prerequisite course will be enrolled in a non-honors/Regents level course.
3 Core Values
1. Safety
We are committed to maintaining a school environment where all students are welcomed, celebrated, and allowed to feel socially and emotionally safe.
2. Community
We are committed to fostering positive relationships with all students through daily interactions, learning experiences, and school activities.
3. Engagement
We are committed to providing all students academic and extracurricular experiences that advance learning, social skills, and student agency.
3 Core Values in Action
We continue to make progress with addressing the social and emotional impact of the pandemic. Our school discipline data and Satchel Pulse survey data for 2021-2022 as well as the first semester of the 2022-2023 school year, have allowed us to identify student conflict avoidance and resolution skills as areas for improvement.
This school year we have increased our work with modeling and teaching positive social skills and conflict resolution skills. During the time we have implemented several of these interventions, we have seen a significant reduction of physical student conflicts and an increase in positive conflict resolutions. Some of the initiatives that are in action include:
- Foundations & Neighborhood Initiative
- Satchel Pulse Surveys
- Community Building Circles
- Restorative Practices
- Trauma Informed Practices
All of these initiatives relate to our 3 Core Values: Safety, Community, and Engagement. We have been working very hard to increase community building opportunities through positive and respectful social interactions. We are excited about this work because it is making a positive difference for our students, staff, and school!
Foundations Initiative Goals
- Teaching & Modeling Positive Interactions and Behavior
- Ensuring Positive, Proactive, and Engaged Supervision of Common Areas
- Recognizing and Celebrating Positive Behaviors

Student Drop-Off Procedures / Student and Staff Safety
Reminder: School Day Begins at 7:35 AM
Please carefully review and follow our student drop-off procedures. Thank you!
- Please ensure your student has all of their belongings and is ready to exit the vehicle promptly before entering the school parking lot.
- The first vehicle in the drop-off lane should always pull all the way forward to door 1 before stopping their vehicle.
- When all cars stop in the drop-off lane, all students should exit the vehicles promptly and walk to door 2.
- DO NOT stop your vehicle by door 2 unless all of the the vehicles in front of you have stopped. This allows us to ensure all students exit the vehicle at the same time and get all students into school before 7:35AM.
- After all students have safely exited vehicles, you will be directed to pull forward and exit the parking lot.
- Parents should only make right hand turns out of the parking lot onto Delaware Road.
- REMINDER: Only staff are permitted to enter the main parking lot area color coded in red (below).
- Please remind your students to always use pedestrian crosswalks when crossing Delaware Road and Highland Parkway.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students and staff safe!
