Responsibilities
One responsibilities is Preparing and cooking meals. Another is Cleaning up after you are done cooking. You have to be able to meet high standards of heath and hygiene. You also have to be able to occasionally organize food for parties.
Skills
You have to be able to make a creative presentation for all meals. You also have to produce high quality food that is cost effective. While cooking you need a great attention to detail while being able to multitask and cook several elements at the same time. You have to be able to adjust your meals to different dietary needs and restrictions. Also need to be able to use all kitchen tools.
Personal characteristics
You have to be able to work long hours, weekends, and holidays. You need good communication skills. You also need good time management skills and be well organized.
Training and Education
In some cases you need training from a culinary school. You also need 1-5 years in culinary experience.
At least a high school diploma is needed, in most cases a degree in the culinary arts is needed.
Working Environment
If you are a live-in chef or if you spend your day at one house, then the environment is the house. If you do deliveries then you will normally work in a commercial kitchen. Many personal chefs work for multiple people at the same time, so you will be in many different home kitchens.
Salary
For live-in and live-out Chefs you get $30,000-$40,000 per year. For part time chefs normally charge $14-$20 per person per meal
