CHARLES HAY WORLD SCHOOL IB
August 11, 2023
Dear Charles Hay Families,
It was wonderful to meet new families and see so many returning families at the Watermelon Welcome this week. Our community is amazing and I hope you felt the love and care like I did while you walked around and met staff and other families from Charles Hay. It made me so excited to begin my second year as Principal at Charles Hay and year nineteen in education.
Welcoming students back today brought a huge smile to my face! Students spent the day learning about the expectations of being safe, responsible and respectful in all areas of the school as well as building relationships and getting to know each other and their teachers. We are constantly teaching and reminding students of these expectations and how to be safe, responsible and respectful. It is great if similar language can be used at home! I am including lots of pictures below of students on the first day. Thank you for trusting us with your children and I look forward to working together this year to support each and every student.
Have a wonderful weekend!
- August 25- Picture Day- All Day
- August 28- 6:00pm-7:00pm PTSA Meeting
- August 29th at Bishop from 6-8pm- SAC/DAC Kickoff
SAC/DAC Kick off
Please join us for the 2023/2024 School Accountability Committee (SAC), District Accountability Committee (DAC) Kick-Off event. School Accountability Committees and District Accountability Committees are advisory committees made up of parents and community members. These groups have a profound voice in providing input and recommendations to principals, school leaders, and the Board of Education, on an advisory basis. Annually, they review topics such as budget priorities, school performance plans, academic progress, and family engagement.
This event is an opportunity to meet with your principal along with district leaders and to learn more about how these committees impact decisions made at the school and district levels.
Participating in these committees is a great way to ensure your voice is at the table while advocating for students. If you have any questions, please contact Tamara Nickerson at firstname.lastname@example.org.

On behalf of our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), Wellness Committee, and Accountability Committee, we want to welcome you all back to Hay! We are looking forward to a year in which our students, families, and community thrive in education, health, and happiness.
We are looking for folks to help support us with this mission as our district has faced significant budget cuts this past year and it has directly impacted our "personpower". We have a lot of events, clubs, and committees we want to continue to offer for our community, but need YOUR help in doing so...whether it's a one time deal, or a weekly or monthly commitment, it is 100% up to you!
Please consider filling out this 1-question survey. Those that complete the survey will be entered into a raffle for a 4-pack of Englewood Recreation Center tickets!
Thank you so much for your support,
Kelly Wilbert, PE Teacher & Wellness Committee Lead
Mary Drummond, PTSA President
