KAISER WELLNESS CENTER HIGHLIGHT
Is it Covid-19 or Flu?
It’s that time of year when we experience more respiratory illnesses like colds, flu and now Covid-19. It’s important to get a flu shot and the new Moderna and Pfizer Covid-19 Bivalent Boosters. Flu shots and Covid-19 Bivalent Boosters are free for students at the Wellness Center. Please call the Wellness Center to schedule an appointment.
Covid-19 and the flu have similar symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, sore throat, muscle pain or body aches. However, loss of taste or smell is unique to Covid-19.
Updated boosters also are available at Public Health’s Auburn Mall and Bellevue-Eastgate vaccine clinics and other health care providers, clinics, and pharmacies. For more information, go to: https://kingcounty.gov/depts/health/covid-19/vaccine/distribution.aspx

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
November is a great time to focus on Gratitude.
Gratitude is an interesting concept. It’s one of those qualities that everyone accepts you should do, but that we rarely talk about how to do. What does gratitude look like in everyday life?
One simple practice of adding gratitude into your day can begin to change your outlook and positively impact your mental health. Pick a time of the day that you will write down or say out loud something about that day you are grateful for. Example: Dinner time: as you eat tell your loved one good thing about the day.
Be specific rather than general. It is wonderful to be grateful for our family, our friends, and our homes. But being specific about your gratitude means using your full scope of awareness to realize what you are grateful for now.
