President's Message
Greetings Busy Bees,
In honor of celebrating this month of LOVE filled festivities, I would like to ask you to reflect on why you LOVE the reason that you belong to this great FAMILY of CTE educators? What is your WHY? My WHY revolves around people. I LOVE being a CTE - FACS educator because of all the amazing people I have been able to learn from, teach, and inspire. I LOVE being a FACS educator because I am able to be ”that” teacher students want to talk to when they are having a rough day .I LOVE being a FACS educator because there are so many options when it comes to teaching FACS. I LOVE being a FACS educator because there are opportunities for leadership and advancement. I LOVE being a FACS educator because hands-on learning is vital to my learning style and is so important in the world today. I LOVE being a FACS educator because HOME ECONOMICS has come so far since its inception. I LOVE being a FACS educator because I get to teach real-life hands-on skills that students will take with them into the next chapter of this journey we call life. I LOVE being a FACS educator because I have had the incredible opportunity to be mentored by the best of the best and have built relationships that will last a lifetime. Hopefully you all have a wonderful CTE month filled with so much LOVE your heart is bursting! We cannot wait to see you all at VATFACS, PDI in July!
Blessings,
Diane

Calling for 2023 VATFACS Nominations!!
The Virginia Association for Teachers of Family & Consumer Sciences (VATFACS) relies on your commitment to the teaching field to nominate individuals who are outstanding in their FCS career. This is your opportunity to recognize this teacher and/or administrator that stands out from others you've seen in your career. Perhaps there is a business making contributions to the FCS program.
Nominate quickly so the candidate has ample time to complete the application.
Recognition is one of the things done least for teachers but it's one of the most important. Please award someone for their over-the-top contributions. Thank you in advance for making nominations and forwarding the link.
