History
Jamaica is the third-largest island in the Caribbean Sea. It's located south of Cuba. Jamaica is slightly larger than Hawaii. Christopher Columbus landed on Jamaica on May 4,1494 (Matthews). Jamaica's population 2,930,050 people. People over in Jamaica show respect and approval for sharing ideas by touching fists ("Jamaica").
Government
Jamaica is an Constitutional Parliamentary Democracy. The country government is mainly made up of two political parties. The first one being Jamaican Party Labor which is longer for JPL. The JPL favors private enterprise. While the People's National Party (PNP) advocates a moderate socialism. The country is divided into 14 parishes (infoplease).
Major Issues
Jamaica is experiencing a lot of major environmental issues such as, deforestation, coastal water pollutions from industrial wastes, sewage, and also oil spills. They also suffer from acid rain. Which is caused by rain containing harmful levels of sulfur dioxide or either nitrogen oxide ("Jamaica Environment").
