From the Principal: Class Lists & Meet the Teacher on August 28
Dear St. Mary's Families,
Our teachers will soon be working hard to prepare for the arrival of your students, and can't wait to meet them during our "AVID St. Mary's Welcome Back Open House & Meet the Teacher." This event will be the evening of August 28th from 6-8pm. At this time, students are welcome to bring school supplies. We will also have some supplies available if you are in need of assistance. A link to our school supply list is below and on the school website.
Class lists will be posted on the windows outside school before Meet the Teacher on August 28.
All staff at St. Mary's work collaboratively to create a thriving community that supports growing friendships, advancing achievement, and building character. When we make class lists, the process of synthesizing information from parent input forms, teacher recommendations, and program needs involves a lot of people, time and energy. We work hard to ensure that students are placed into balanced classes where we believe all students can thrive. As soon as class placement is determined, we begin preparing for first day of school.
Occasionally, a family will request a change to class placement after finding out who their teacher is at registration or after class lists have been posted. Please know that while I always welcome parent involvement in the educational process, due to the complexity of both class lists and scheduling, we are rarely able to accommodate placement change requests in the Fall. For this reason, parent input for class placement is offered in the Spring. Thank you for understanding, and trusting us with the care of your student! Every year at St. Mary's is a great year for learning, growing, and making new friends.
It's going to be a great year!
See you soon,
Katie
