A Moment With Mrs. O'Donnell
Wow! Curriculum Night at Attea was an amazing experience. It was great to have families back to explore Attea and learn about what our staff has to offer our students.
Together we can support all of our students by having high standards for growth in classes as well as encouraging them to be a leader who shows self awareness and understanding of the perspective of others.
We are very fortunate to be able to provide many extracurricular experiences for our students. We launched many clubs, intramural sports, and activities this week. Please review all the opportunities we have to offer outside the school day. All students are encouraged to get involved @ ATTEA!
Be Involved,
Diana O'Donnell
Principal
Did You Miss Curriculum Night?
Presentations were also given by 6th Grade, 7th grade and 8th grade teachers to outline subject matter that will be covered in various subjects and to introduce parents to teachers.
Please review the presentations and feel free to reach out to any staff member with questions.
Thank You!!!
Thank you:
- Attea Staff who worked on grade level and subject matter presentations for Curriculum Night to share the great work students will be doing this year.
- Attea Ambassadors who provided support for our Back to School Day. We also appreciate the support you will be giving in assisting with our District 34 Institute Day!
- SPAT PTA for providing Welcome Back Breakfast for staff, organizing the Kona Ice Truck, and spirit wear sales for Attea.
- Our Winds Ensemble will be performing for all District 34 staff on Institute Day! Thanks for sharing your talents with others.
- And....7th and 8th Grade art classes began their first days of school by creating a collaborative work of art focusing on belonging, acceptance and community. As a group, students brainstormed dynamic poses, then traced and cut out life size peer silhouettes. Individually, students wrote “I belong” statements about their favorite times and places they enjoy at Attea and collaboratively wrote their statements onto the silhouettes. the The finished project went on display in the halls of Attea just moments before Curriculum Night. It was a very moving moment that brought together the ideals that were about to be discussed. Well done Ms. Harwell and Attea Art students!
We are so grateful!

Rapid Antigen Testing & COVID Case Notification
Dear D34 Families,
District 34 received approval of our CLIA waiver and, starting Monday, we will be able to administer rapid antigen tests at school to students who develop new symptoms (unrelated to a known existing condition). Rapid testing will allow those who test negative to return to class with limited interruption. As a reminder, we shared this information about how to opt into rapid antigen testing.
You can find more information about other testing options and our health and safety protocols on the District website.
COVID Case Notification
As outlined in those protocols, the schools will continue to report known positive cases of COVID-19 in our schools to the Cook County Department of Public Health. Schools also will send notification via email to families of positive student cases in classrooms (PK-2) and grade levels (3-8).
If you do not wish to receive these emails, you can update your preferences in PowerSchool. After you log in, click on the “SwiftReach SwiftK12” icon at the bottom of the left navigation bar. Then click on “Alert Preferences” in the upper right corner, next to the gear icon. Uncheck boxes next to the email addresses where you don’t want to receive information in the “COVID Case Notification” category. Then click the “Save Changes” button.
