Evamere Week in Review
February 8, 2016
Auto Be Good
25 Evamere students received the Auto Be Good award for kindness, trustworthiness and compassion on Friday, February 5. The event included a special celebration of our Evamere leaders with a powerpoint, certificate and a star student necklace. The families enjoyed a special breakfast to enjoy together.
American Heart Assocation
Evamere had a special assembly to support our February community service project. The students dressed in red to support the heart association. There was a special visit form "Super Dog" during the assembly. Through Jump Rope For Heart kids learn jump rope skills, how their heart works and raise money to help kids with special hearts. Evamere students are learning how to stay healthy and make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you to all the families who have donated to this wonderful cause.
Habit #5 Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
Evamere students continue to explore the 7 habits of healthy kids. Habit Five: Seek first to understand, then to be understood, which means it is better to listen to others first and talk second. Students using this habit practice listening first by listening with ears, eyes, and heart to understand other perspectives. You can encourage your child by incorporating this language at home. Listed below are a few books which support this habit to read with your child:
· The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
· Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
· The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka
· Marrying Malcolm Murgatroyd by Marne Farrell
· Rules by Cynthia Lord
