New Beginnings Class Newsletter
For the Week of 10/16-10/20
What We Worked On
Read Aloud- We read the stories "I Like Pumpkins" and "We're Off To Find the Witch's House." We worked on pumpkin vocabulary and next week will start the life cycle of a pumpkin.
Skills- We continued to work on the letter "D", the number "4," the color blue, and the shape triangle. We also worked on patterns, positional words (above, below, under), and big/little, hard/soft. We've been working on our fine motor skills and drawing straight lines. We've been working on our coloring skills as well.
What Can I Do?
Most of our students do not really like coloring, and it could be because it takes some fine motor strength for them to hold the crayons properly and color. It's a tiring activity. You can help develop your child's finger strength by giving them time to color, talk about what picture they are coloring or drawing, and point out the colors they are using. Encourage them to use their three fingers to hold a crayon instead of their whole hand.
