Mrs. Luther's News

Week 29: April 11-15th, 2016

Welcome Back!

I hope you all had a wonderful spring break spending time and making memories with your families! I am excited to spend the last few weeks of this school year with your children. We still have so much to learn!

The first grade team has decided to not assign "homework" when we return from spring break. We know that learning will continue to take place after school as kids are playing outside, collaborating with neighbors, or playing games as a family, but it will be not be in the form of a homework sheet to be turned in at the end of each week. We know that you will continue to make reading, practicing spelling and practicing math facts a part of your daily routine as a family, but there will no longer be a homework paper to complete and return.

A list of spelling/high frequency words will be sent home on Mondays, however there will not be formal spelling tests on Friday. Instead, spelling will be assessed through student writing and daily classroom work rather than an isolated quiz at the end of the week.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email or call!
