Week at a Glance
Marian Central Catholic High School Faculty Newsletter
September 21, 2018
This week was most likely the calm before the storm of Homecoming week! A relatively calm week, but certainly filled with fun and interesting activities and learning experiences for our students.
While walking through several classes this week I saw students engaged in...
- Interviewing a fellow student with questions & answers all in Spanish
- Role Playing and interpretive practices in Theater class (I even jumped in!)
- Students solving systems of equations
- Students determining electron configuration
- and even playing telephone to understand Divine Revelation!
I really love being in the classes with you and the students, so please let me know either when you might need an extra set of hands for an activity, to watch presentations, or anything!
It was wonderful to see our senior students dressed up this week as they took their senior portraits... this year is going to go very fast for these students!
Thursday evening Mr. DeFrisco headed up the first of hopefully many meetings with parents that were interested in building and sustaining a Marian Athletic Booster Club. Several parents were in attendance, along with Mr. Price, Mrs. Bordeaux, Father Twenty, Mrs. Murwin, and Ms. Novy. We will announce the next meeting soon!
This week also included a short homeroom, so stay tuned for our Pep Rally on Monday to find out who our 2018-19 Homecoming Court members will be!
Looking ahead...
What's ahead this week? HOMECOMING!
Of course, we also know that learning is still going on throughout the halls of Marian! We hope that the excitement of the week doesn't infringe upon too much of your academic objectives for the week!
Have an amazing week!

Technology Reminders:
Department Technology Goals Form: Please fill this out ASAP. You don't need to know specific programs, but can let Kasey know what activities/strategies you would like to do in your department, and she can do the research to find programs/ideas for you! Please be sure that your whole department is on board and able to work to achieve these goals. Once you fill out the department goals, please be sure to schedule a meeting with Kasey and the department in order to map out the goals for at least the 1st semester, and together you will focus on the second-semester goal...during the second semester :)
October 9th PD Interest Form: We are looking to organize the October 9th Inservice as a workshop that is suited to the needs of you, the faculty. This Initial Interest form is to identify the support/resources you feel is needed as we are furthering this 1:1 process. Once we have the interest surveys collected, we will continue providing you with information about the sessions. Please have this form filled out by September 28th, 2018 in order to have sufficient time for presenters to prepare and to organize the workshop.
