Newsletter Term 4 Week1
St Mary's School Blenheim Friday 21st October 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Kia ora koutou Te Kura O Hato Mere Whānau,
Welcome back to school and the stunning weather that has made this week fly by as the tamariki have been outside learning, playing and training for the school athletics day this term.
Smiling faces ‘In Christ’s Light’ have guided happiness and joy back to our kura after two weeks of silence. It is great to all be back together as a hapori whānui.
Having the gates open and parents back on site has been fantastic. You are all welcome back. It was heartening to have parents and whānau join us for morning prayer on Monday as we started the new term in the prayer garden. Thank you to the children for singing with such vigour, faith filled expressions of joy through their voices and brilliant dance moves.
The prayer garden went through a transformation during the holidays. The gardens cleaned up, weeds removed, hedges trimmed, and daffodils planted ready for their first showing in 2023. Silence over the holidays but certainly not stillness.
Thank you very much to Miss McCone, her parents, niece and nephew, Nick and Casey Twidle, Megan and Harry McKendry, Mrs Lamain and Lukas Dowling for coming to school in week one and joining in the fun moving tonnes of mulch into the new garden space alongside the MBC boundary with the new fruit trees and helping to spread mulch and add more coverage to the big garden on the Stephenson Street Boundary. The space looks fantastic and is nearly ready for more plants to go in the ground.
Another 500 daffodils bulbs have been planted and we look forward to the Stephenson Street boundary looking sharp next year when they come out and shine
Loads happening this term, school camps, athletic sports, touch, fundamentals, tennis, volleyball, a working bee, Year 8 Taonga, end of year celebrations. It will feel like a short term because it is such a fast term. Please make sure you keep reading the notifications that get sent to you all through the school app, Hero and the newsletters.
I am looking forward to celebrating the rest of October, the month of the Rosary as we all take time to reflect and look forward to celebrating the time of Christ’s birth and Mary’s ultimate sacrifice.
It is a time to focus on whānau and our wider hapori whānui. Take care of each other and support those on the margins. Margins and those in the margins include all people to varying degrees and this is exacerbated through this time of the year leading up to Christmas.
Show love, take care and spread JOY.
May God Bless you all,
Yours ‘In Christ’s Light’
Paddy Dowling
