Mrs. Bearden's Weekly Update

May 3, 2021

Dear Eagle Canyon Families,

Welcome to the last month of the school year! Let's work together to make it the best month yet.

Teacher Appreciation Week is this week, May 3 - 7. Check out the announcement below to see how the Eagle Canyon PTA and I are planning to honor our amazing Eagle Canyon educators.

The schedule to return textbooks and school district devices is below. Please be sure to turn in books and devices according to the schedule. It is important for us to take inventory, clean, and repair any materials.

Please keep your child at home if your child or someone in your home is experiencing COVID-like symptoms. It is important we work together to keep our students and staff safe.

Please help us to ensure we are maintaining safe distances and limiting the number of people on campus at drop-off and dismissal. ALL parents in Grades 1 - 6 will need to either drop their children off or meet after school at the Pedestrian Gate or the Bus Gate if they are walkers or drive-in and drop off/pick up their children at the Cabanas. Only KINDERGARTEN and SDC parents may park and walk their children to the gate. Be sure to communicate with your child where you will meet them after school. Please do not allow or encourage your children to walk in the parking lot or cross in front of cars. We must work together to keep everyone safe.

I continue to observe many families who are allowing their students to cross in front of cars as they are double-parked on Eagle Canyon Drive or not use the crosswalk to cross Eagle Canyon Drive to get to their parked car. Out of an abundance for safety, please help us coach your children in following the safety rules for the road. We talk with the students on a regular basis about being safe. It takes a community of people all working together to teach our students about making good choices. Please help us by teaching them these important safety rules. Our school district provides two crossing guards to ensure everyone's safety. Please take the time to utilize them.

K-2 PARENTS

Your children will take the Essential Standards Assessment #3 (ESA #3) April 19 - May 20. Your child's teacher will let you know when the assessments will be given so you can ensure your child gets plenty of rest and has a healthy breakfast.

SAFETY REMINDER

ATTENDANCE

Families are beginning to receive letters regarding their child's attendance. Please understand, Distance Learning teachers are required to document their students' engagement during live instruction. Students are required to remain present in their virtual class during live instruction. When students turn their cameras off and do not respond when called on to participate in a class discussion, they are considered absent.

Please help us by talking with your children about the importance of being engaged in daily instruction and learning activities. Also talk to them about only opening tabs their teachers ask them to open. It is very easy for students to open video games in other tabs, but look like they are engaged in live instruction. We need to work together to prevent learning loss during Distance Learning. It will take everyone working together to help our students succeed. Thank you for your help!

Virtual Top Flight Awards

Help us recognize your children for meeting the schoolwide expectations of being respectful, responsible, and safe during Distance Learning.

Report Absences

If your child is absent from class during the teacher's instruction, please use this link or call the office to report their absence to avoid a phone call from our office.
