Kindergarten Visitation

Dear Parents,

We would like to invite you and your child to our kindergarten visitation TOMORROW September 8th from 9 am - 10 am. The purpose of this visit is to allow the students to visit their teacher and classroom the day before school begins to increase student comfort with the transition to a brand new school.

We will have a check-in station for each of the three classrooms. Parents should stop by this station to pick up a name tag for their child and receive instructions. The children will enter through the kindergarten patio door behind the building. This will be the door that all kindergartners will enter and exit through each day for drop off and dismissal. Unfortunately, parents will not be able to enter the building with their children. This new procedure is due to COVID-19 and is for the safety of all.

Students will participate in an art project, listen to a read aloud, make a name tag, and watch a "Welcome to Kindergarten" video that we have created. We invite families to drop off their child's school supplies that day so they will be prepared and ready to start on September 9th. Please make sure you have your child’s name written on the bag.

Parents are welcome to stay on the school grounds outside. We will have an area designated for each classroom and parents will be permitted to meet with parents from their child’s class. We will have staff members available for questions. In the case of inclement weather, we will only be able to accommodate the students. Let’s all hope for pleasant weather.

Welcoming our new kindergarteners is one of my favorite days of the new school year! We look forward to meeting you and our brand new scholars.

If you have any questions feel free to call the office at 203-869-1896.

Kindergarten Start Time on September 9th

We are so excited to welcome our incoming kindergarteners to Julian Curtiss School this week! We hope you will all be able to attend our orientation on September 8th at 9:00 am, but everyone should be ready to join us on the first day of school on September 9th. We know the first day of school can be daunting with the rush of so many families arriving at school at once. As a District, we recognize the first day for our kindergarteners needs to be special, particularly this year. As such, we’ve decided to begin at 9:15 am on the first day of school to give the children a special welcome to our school community.

If this is a hardship in any way for your family, please contact me and I will absolutely make arrangements for your children to be here, and cared for, at our usual arrival time of 8:15 am and will have them join us, with the rest of their new classmates, for our special Kindergarten welcome at 9:15 am.

You can park in the parking lot toward the back of the school or find a spot outside of the school during that time. You will bring your child to the kindergarten patio door behind the school. There will be signs and staff members to guide you.

We are looking forward to meeting the class of 2033 and wish you all the best as you enjoy these final lazy hazy days of summer!

We will not be using School Dismissal Manager this year. Please click below to download a dismissal plan form for your child. Please send this form with your child on the first day of school. This form is extremely important as this will be the way your child's teacher directs your child to go home each day.
