Consultant Survey Results
After each appointment, we send out a survey to students regarding our services. Below you will find a few screenshots from my surveys this spring.
The Career Center is Getting a Facelift!
The Career Center renovation began in February and appears to be going according to schedule! Our temporary location is in the old Bulldog Print and Copy building on East Campus (near Ramsey/Performing Arts Center/Museum). We will be here all summer - the renovation is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of August.
Career Center Resource Highlight - Referring Students
If you meet with a student that you think might benefit from a meeting with me, please direct them to make an appointment by calling our front desk at 706-542-3375. Additionally, in the fall and spring semesters, students can meet with any Career Consultant during Career Center walk-in hours (Monday-Friday, 12-2pm) or meet with me during Satellite Hours in Boyd or Terry (hours and days TBD).
Dawglink -> Handshake
If employers reach out to you, please encourage them to post their positions and information on Handshake. It is a great one-stop-shop for students to view open positions, see which events employers are attending on campus, and find out more about the company. In order to sign-up for Handshake, employers can visit hireUGA.com.
Did You Know?
We have a section on the UGA Career Center website dedicated to advisors! This section can be found by scrolling to the bottom of our site at career.uga.edu and clicking on "advisor connect." Here you will find links to some of the most commonly used resources by advisors. Is there a resource you use on our website often that is not listed here? Let me know, and I will get it added. Feel free to bookmark this page for easy access!
MCMS Listserv
I have added all of you to my internal listserv for all students majoring in MIS, Computer Science, Math, and Statistics. I use this listserv to send out updates to all of my majors for Career Center events, relevant jobs/internships, etc. I also have the ability to send out targeted e-mails through Handshake to specific students based on year, graduation date, major, and interests. If you have anything you would like sent out to majors beyond your own, please let me know, and I would be happy to do that! If you would like to be taken off the listserv (or if you are not on it!), please let me know that as well.
I Want Your Feedback!
Do you have any ideas of ways we can work together or feedback for me to better serve students? Do you hear common career questions over and over and you're unsure of how to direct students? Please feel free to send me any ideas or questions at samantha.perrin@uga.edu.
