Following district guidelines, we will no longer be contact tracing. We will be notifying parents if there child may have been exposed to Covid-19. These notifications will come via email in our Blackboard system. For more information regarding this change, please visit the BPS website.
Art Updates
Last September, students participated in an activity where they drew a space-themed picture on a postcard that went on a Blue Origin New Shepard rocket into space! We finally got the postcards back and they have a blue postmark that says “Flown To Space.” The postcards have been returned to students this past week and I hope you enjoy this special keepsake!
One of our sixth graders from last year, Zander, had his postcard selected to be on the cover of this year’s elementary student planners! Also, Zander’s art will be featured on the cover of the South Area Elementary Art Fair handbook in March.
Congratulations to the following students whose art will be displayed at the Melbourne Square Mall South Area K-12 Show from Sunday, January 23rd through Saturday, February 5th: Teagan P., Finn H., Calie H., Audrey R., Josephyne J., Anne W., Nina S., Mackenzie L., Bella S., Michael D., Desi X., Lexi R., Eloise H., Uriah C., Jonah C., Bella L. and Hope C. I hope everyone can go see Surfside students’ beautiful art at the mall!

Arrival Reminders
The first bell rings at 8:00. At that time, classroom doors open. It is imperative that students be in class and ready to learn by 8:15. Students who are not in the classroom by 8:15 are considered tardy.
Our car loop is very busy in the mornings with students arriving to school. To make the car loop more efficient, we are asking that students are dropped off at the next gate available and not just by their grade level hallways. This will allow cars to pull up to the next gate instead of having gaps in car line. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 and students are expected to be in their classrooms when the bell rings. Please help your student by making sure that they arrive on campus with time to get to class or to acquire breakfast if needed. We appreciate your help.
