Literacy

We enjoy kicking off this time of year learning about fairy tales, fables, and ending our time with tall tales and legends. This is especially a hit for all our learners as they gain exposure to new stories or various versions of familiar stories!

We focus in on the following skills:

  • Fables- be able to retell (character, setting, beginning, middle, and end) the story and determine the "moral" or lesson learned in the story.
  • Folktales- be able to retell the story and determine the overall lesson or moral (lesson).
  • Fairy Tales- compare/contrast the same fairy tale by different authors or from different cultures.

Our New Prestigious Patriots!!!

I would like to introduce my new "Prestigious Patriots." The first week of school the learners and I sat down and talked about what a Prestigious Patriot is and what they needed to do in order to become one and receive their lead card. We set classroom goals and self goals and worked hard everyday to reach the big day. I hosted a Lead Card Ceremony and some came dressed in their Sunday's best for the big event. Way To Go Prestigious Patriots!!
