Praise Report
LAVCA LOVE Notes
I just wanted to take a minute and tell you you're an amazing teacher! That little note you sent Jayce put the biggest smile on his face. He has struggled a bit this year because he always wants to have something to do so sitting through class was hard for him. He's loving your class though and he really loves the sprint sheets. He never really liked math but he's extremely good at it. But watching his confidence boost because of you is amazing so I wanted to tell you thank you and I appreciate you!

State Scoring
Good Morning Team,
School finder was released as expected on Tuesday, Nov. 7th to the public. Please take a moment to view what's listed for our school by clicking the link and searching for LAVCA:

Below is messaging that was sent out to our families. It includes an interactive video that explains how to interpret our score. Please use it as a resource.
Dear LAVCA Family,
Yesterday, the Louisiana Department of Education released School Performance Scores (SPS) for the 2016-17 year. LAVCA received an overall score of 58.4 earning a “D” rating. The following graphic reflects our change over last year:

Because of our school performance, our school has been labeled by the Department of Education as one that requires comprehensive intervention. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires every local school system design a plan for improving student performance in their struggling schools. We will be working with our district and external partner organizations to develop a multi-year plan to address these challenges. The Department of Education will competitively award funds to those with the strongest evidence-based plans. Please visit http://www.louisianabelieves.com/schools/school-redesign for more information. Attached is a link for an animated video from Louisiana Believes that explains school performance scores in Louisiana and what they communicate to parents and the community. Please click link below:

Your LAVCA leaders will be scheduling time this month to meet and answer questions about our performance score, as well as share information on our plan of action to move into second semester. For more information about the state’s scoring system, visit www.louisianabelieves.com or www.louisianaschools.com.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
Danielle Scott-Johnson
Head of School
Please continue to focus on the "now!" What really matters is what's taking place in our virtual classrooms each day in preparation for Spring 2018 testing whose results WILL determine our school's future. Remember, "the work will not be hard, but there is lots of work to do." I believe in "US!" #WEAREONE #ALLIN
