What is Digital Learning?
Digital Learning is any instructional practice that effectively uses technology to strengthen a student's learning experience. It emphasizes high-quality instruction and provides access to challenging content, feedback through formative assessment, opportunities for learning anytime, anywhere, and individualized instruction to ensure all students learn.

October Topic 1: Formative Assessment
There are many digital tools for formative assessment out there - these are a few that have proven to be successful: they are all engaging for students and provide you, the teacher, with immediate information on what your students know so that you can act upon it quickly and effectively.
Quizizz
Game-based formative assessment option where students get points for correct, timely responses. Similar to Kahoot, but different in that students work at their own pace. Allows all students the chance to be successful! Can be translated. Run and keep student reports. Search already made quizzes or make and share your own. www.quizizz.com
Formative
Excellent tool - make worksheets interactive, pull in video support, and see student work in real time. One of my favorites for math teachers! https://goformative.com/
Socrative
Build quizzes and administer them to students in different ways. Socrative offers the traditional online assessment but also offers a game-based team review/assessment activity. Track all of your student performance with reports.http://www.socrative.com/
October Topic 2: Digital Tools for Vocabulary Support
Quizlet is a tool that has been around for awhile that allows you to create vocabulary study sets and post them to your Google Classroom. Students can practice the vocabulary in 6 ways. Include pictures to help solidify content. Students can also have the content read to them. Search already made quizlets or create your own. Some SISD unit overviews have already - made quizlets prepared for you!
Quizlet also now has a Live! option that turns your study set into a live game - students are put into groups and have to work together to earn points. Great for tutorials/interventions! Check it out below.

October Topic 3: Parent Teacher Conferences
How can you display the technology your students are using and involve parents?
1. Have a chromebook out and have the student login and show his/her parent their Google Classroom work.
2. Have parents sign up for Google Classroom guardian summaries.
3. Show students and parents how to download the app to their devices.
4. Use a Google Form to collect parent information.
