Did you have fun on your Snow Day?
Dear BPS Families,
The last month had many memorable moments from student accomplishments to assemblies and special projects. Thanks to the adorable urging of Mrs. Howes’ Kindergarten class and help from Mother Nature, Bourne PS saw its first Snow Day of the year! I hope that everyone was able to have some fun in the snow and that spring is now right around the corner.
I hope that you enjoy the February newsletter!

Amazing Shows and Sold Out Audiences
Audiences were treated to stellar performances by our elementary and middle school students.
Willy Wonka Jr., a fully staged musical complete with flying performers, had everyone craving candy in late January. Last week Bourne Intermediate School students sang and danced their way through the decades with the 30th Anniversary All-Star Revue. Through these great experiences the talent and dedication of hundreds of children was on full display.
Special thanks to the PTA, families and caregivers of the performers, and many staff members who worked on the shows. Check out the upcoming events section for more great performances in the months to come.
We Need Your Voice
Strategic Planning Survey
Bourne Public Schools in the early stages of planning around complex and interconnected topics including increasing our Pre-K offerings specifically, offering Universal Pre-K for all 4 year olds and the possibility of reintegrating eighth grade into the high school building. Although we are not planning to make any changes to grade configurations in our schools in the coming year, we think it is prudent to begin researching and discussing these ideas with our staff and community.
I hope that you will share your perspective as a Parent/Caregiver or Community Member by filling out this Strategic Planning Survey that will be open until the end of the day on FRIDAY, March 8, 2024.
DEIB Committee
BPS is hosting a reorganizational meeting of our District Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Committee on March 4th from 4:00-5:00PM at Bourne Intermediate School. This meeting will have discussion about past DEIB progress as well as future planning.
We will also have information on the different types of DEIB involvement for the rest of this academic year including planning the Bourne Celebrates Everyone Event and the opportunity to participate in a great book study with the book "Unconscious Bias in Schools" including the ability to speak with one of the authors. Please use this link to RSVP to participate and fine out more.
Canalmen Athletics is Going Strong
As the winter season is beginning to wrap up it’s clear that our Canalmen continue to shine.
What we often hear from our Bourne High School scholar athletes is that because we are a small school, they have so much opportunity to play, try new sports and become even more of a close knit community. Their dedication to their team and to excellence shows in the latest Power Ranking as well as individual and collective achievement. We all are cheering you on into the tournament season. Go Canalmen!
The Canal Cup came home! Congratulations to the Boys Hockey Team for their victory over Sandwich in the 2024 Canal Cup. If you missed it, check out the Bourne High School Canal Cup Pre -Show on Bourne TV.
