Evening Street Weekly Update
January 14, 2022
Principal's Message
We continue to remind children to sanitize their hands, their work areas, and we still maintain 6 feet at lunch. Our custodial staff are continuing additional cleansing protocols. I truly marvel at the adaptability of children. They really are just grateful to be in school. This morning I noticed children running into the building, it made me smile. A teacher asked why I didn't remind them to walk. I actually was happy to know they liked us so much they were running into the building. Often, I need to remind children not to run out of the building at the end of the day!
We are trying to maintain programming with adaptations. Our choir will perform on January 27th, wearing masks. The audience is limited to family members, sorry, as I know many of you enjoy listening to the performance. Luckily, parent, Sheila Fox, is able to live stream and videotape the performance, so look for that video to be sent home! Thanks to Hannah Fox for volunteering her mom and to Sheila for saying yes!
Art created by intermediate students will be displayed in the hallway. School doors will be open from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. for viewing. The time has been extended to better manage foot traffic. Mrs. Wetz is truly influential with spurring creativity and has guided the children to produce amazing products, you will be blown away by their creations! Masks are required in the building. As the Science Celebration approaches, we will look at making adjustments in accordance with COVID numbers.
If your child entered the Yearbook contest, they are bringing home their entry as well as a token for a free ice cream cone or a dilly bar from Dairy Queen. This is a really special treat! Special thanks to Sarah Dooley and Amber Durant for making the cover contest fun and exciting. A very special thanks is extended to Ron Overstreet, owner of the Worthington Dairy Queen, for his generosity.
Mrs. Hohman gave birth to sweet little baby Emmett James Hohman this week. As of this writing, Mrs. Szabo is still teaching in her classroom. I imagine our eagle family will expand further by the end of the month as her due date is fast approaching.
Please sign up for a conference with your child's teacher. The teachers are anxious to share your child's progress. Our goal is to meet with every parent either in person or virtually. If one of the times listed does not fit your schedule, please contact your child's teacher separately.
