A Word From Mrs. Loor
We're halfway there! Last Thursday marked our 90th day of school. Let's keep going strong!
The book fair was a huge success. We had a wonderful turnout for our evening session. We hope you enjoyed reading with the dogs as well. Thank you to the PTO, Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Bagley!
We have a Virtual Author Visit scheduled for Friday, February 3rd. Student will meet Max Brallier who wrote The Last Kids on Earth, Eerie Elementary, Galactic Hot Dogs, and Mister Shivers.
A big congratulations to Andrew Heyer in 5th grade and Athena Chakrabortty in 4th grade who won 1st and 2nd place respectively in the Spelling Bee Competition sponsored by The Fortnightly Club of Summit! Well done and we are so proud!
1Ma worked on a writing How-To books using the program, Buncee. They met with 5A to share their books. Their 5th grade buddies helped with proofreading their books.
Have a great week!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

REMINDER:
As students, teachers and parents look forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day with parties in the classrooms, we ask that you keep our district’s nutrition policy and Franklin School’s everyday emphasis on healthy eating in mind. Please DO NOT attach any type of candy or food items to your child’s classroom Valentine’s Day cards.
Valentine candies are hazardous to many of our Franklin students who have food allergies and other dietary issues. Many candies, even those without nuts, are made in facilities that process nuts, and run the risk of cross contamination. Please note, in order to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all Franklin students, any cards with candy or food items attached will NOT be distributed.
There are many creative and fun alternatives to candy and sweets for both cards and class parties. Stickers, small erasers, and pencils are excellent substitutes should you wish to attach something extra to your child’s card.
For health-related questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Zanelli, our school nurse. Her email is azanelli@summit.k12.nj.us. You can also visit the Summit Public Schools Virtual Health Office for additional information.
Counselor's Corner
Our fantastic 4th graders recently completed their rotation of reading the morning announcements. They did such a wonderful job informing the school of events happening, celebrating birthdays, and keeping things light and fun with silly joke telling. Our Friday readers picked upbeat and fun songs to play, getting everyone's energy up to finish off our weeks strong! Thank you to everyone who volunteered for this job. I am so proud of your commitment and dedication to this task. You rule! 😊
For any questions regarding our counseling program, please contact Ms. Audino, our school counselor. Her email is laudino@summit.k12.nj.us.
