A Grateful Heart by Jazmine Misola, Class of 2024
BEGIN EACH DAY WITH A GRATEFUL HEART
I give thanks to my God at every remembrance of you,
praying always with joy in my every prayer for all of you,
because of your partnership for the gospel from the first day until now.
And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more
in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value,
so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,
filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ
for the glory and praise of God.
~From Saint Paul’s Letter to the Philippians, Ch. 1:1-5, 9-11
Dear Saint Clare School Families,
Happy Second Week of Advent!
Many thanks to our Mission and Catholic Identity Committee and to PTG leadership for launching our Warm Love Campaign to help young mothers who benefit our diocesan Layette program. I hope that this provided you the opportunity to engage in a conversation with your children about what the Warm Love Campaign is about, the importance of helping young mothers and how the items you shopped for will benefit them, and more importantly, that helping those who do not have as much as we have is the greatest example of gratitude. Thank you, as always, for your generosity.
STAR WINDOW 2 THIS WEEK
Your teachers posted about the Star assessments window through this week. Thank you for your help in making sure your children eat well and get enough rest. This assessment window will tell us more about student progress so that targeted supports can be implemented. The Star results is one of a number of assessment tools teachers use to help students grow in their learning.
STRATEGIC PLANNING CONTINUES
Thank you to the focus group of parents, students, SAC and PTG leadership for meeting with our Meitler consultants. This concludes their discovery phase, and begins their recommendation phase. They will create a first draft of the recommended plan with the help of our Strategic Planning Committee. Stay tuned!
WCEA (ACCREDITATION) SELF-STUDY UPDATE
Each week, teachers spend collaborative time to review the Self-Study that they have written these past few months. In our Self Study, we look at the effectiveness of our school program based on the following accreditation factors including: Catholic Identity, Curriculum and Instruction, Support for Student Learning, Data Analysis and Action, and Resource Management. In January, we plan to gather together to share with you the findings and seek your insights to complete our Self-Study document. Thank you for your continued support!
SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
On Thursday, Dec. 8, we will gather in thanksgiving to celebrate the Eucharist as a school to honor our Blessed Mother on this holy day of obligation. You are invited to join us! Mass is at 10:45 in the church. Grades TK-8 will attend; students in TK-K will be dismissed after the Liturgy of the Word. Please send students in Formal Uniform, even if they have PE on Thursdays. Mrs. Elias understands, and she will plan accordingly. Thank you for your support in making attendance at Mass meaningful. When you attend Sunday Mass or service together, you model for your students the importance of worshiping as a community. When we gather on Fridays or holy days of obligation, we experience this blessing together, as a school community. Our active participation show our commitment to one another to receive God’s grace through the Eucharist. Thank you for your partnership in enriching your child’s faith life!
LEAVING THIS HERE IN CASE YOU MISSED IT LAST WEEK!
THE SOUNDS OF THE SEASON: An Advent Concert (aka Christmas Program)
On Thursday, December 15, students will perform for our community to usher in the Christmas season. The performances will begin at 6P in the church. Church doors open at 5:45P.
Students are asked to come dressed in their HOLIDAY best (fancier Christmas attire; something your child would wear to Christmas mass).
Details:
Drop off students no earlier than 5:30P and no later than 5:45P.
Elementary, TK-5 (750 Washington - park on the street or the lot): parents walk students to each classroom to sign them in with the teacher.
Middle School, 6-8 (park in the lot): parents walk students to each classroom to sign them in with the teacher.
Students will remain with the teacher and will be escorted to the church in time for the class’ performance.
At the end of the program, all students will return to the church for the finale.
Students may be picked up when the concert concludes. Pick up directions will be announced at the conclusion of the evening.
PLEASE SIGN UP TO HELP MOVE FURNITURE ON 12/12. Kindly read my original post and request. Thank you for your response!
ANTICIPATE RAINY DAYS
The general rule is that when it is raining OR when the temperature is under 40 degrees at 7:30, we will employ Rainy Day protocols, with middle school drop off in the middle school area. Thank you for sending your students in clothes that will keep them warm when they’re able to go outside, and shoes that won’t get soaked in case they are caught in the rain.
We appreciate your help by volunteering for yard duty supervision. Many hands make light work!
