News from Broad Run High School for the Week of June 1-5
From the Principal
BRHS Student and Parents,
It is hard to believe May is over. I'd like to remind the school community that the last day for seniors is June 4, and the last day for grades 9-11 is June 10. Please be sure to check the BRHS web site for End of Year Information. It specifically details how we will plan to do drop off/pick up of materials, grades, timelines, etc.
Seniors, please reference the Class of 2020 page for information about our Seniors “Graduation" time slots.
Finally, I want to congratulate our students and staff who have worked hard in distance learning to stay engaged and finish the school year strong.

Final Grade Calculator Available
Loudoun County Public Schools has created a Final Grade Calculator to help families understand the grade-calculation process for 2019-2020. This calculator will allow families the ability to enter their student’s first-, second- and third-quarter grades to see how each of the three possible grading scenarios, approved by LCPS during COVID-19 school closure, will impact the final grade a student will receive in June. The highest possible calculated grade will be posted in PVUE/SVUE for families to review prior to teachers applying any grade improvement from work submitted during the fourth quarter. To view written directions and a video guide for the Final Grade Calculator, click here.

Congressional App Challenge
May 27, 2020 I am writing to invite all middle and high school students from Virginia's 10th Congressional District to participate in the 2020 Congressional App Challenge. Officially launched in 2015, this competition is a nationwide event intended to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in STEM fields. This competition allows students to compete with peers in their own district by creating and exhibiting their software application (also known as an “app”), for web, PC, tablet, mobile, raspberry Pi, or other platform of their choice. We accept any programming language, example: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, "block code", etc. Despite these unprecedented times, it is important for our youth to continue to innovate and create new solutions to today’s problems from home. Students may compete as individuals or in teams of up to four as long as two of the teammates are eligible to participate in our district. The 2020 Congressional App Challenge is scheduled to run from June 1, 2020 to October 19, 2020. More updates will be provided as my office receives them. The apps will be evaluated by a panel of local judges who work within the academic, software, and entrepreneurial fields. The winning app from each congressional district which hosted a Challenge will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ website (www.house.gov) and displayed in a U.S. Capitol exhibit. For additional details, you can visit www.CongressionalAppChallenge.us. I hope that you will participate in this exciting event. Should you have any questions or concerns, please call my District Office at 703-234-3800 or email StudentSupport@CongressionalAppChallenge.us.
Dear Mr. Spage,
