McKay High School Weekly Newsletter

Week of February 6 -- 10

Message from the Admin Team

Welcome to the Second Semester of the school year! This week at McKay we begin our month long celebration of staff. McKay Cares month looks to acknowledge all of the effort and time spent by our staff to make our school great. If you are interested in doing your part, we invite you to email your student's teachers and let them know they are appreciated. We would like to encourage families to continue supporting the school by assuring that your student(s) are attending on time and regularly. This week students will be adjusting to new schedules, we encourage you to ask questions of your student(s) to assure that you are knowledgeable of any changes taking place. Contact the school counselors if you have ongoing concerns regarding your student's academic progress. Let's have a great start to the second half of the school year.

Shout Outs (Academic, Athletics, Activities)

Another exciting week was had by our Royal Scots, we had students competing all around the state, and even one group outside the state in California. Our programs are great reminders of the importance of getting involved. Below you will see a few highlights of the week, the pictures below tell the greatest story. Enjoy!

Saturday our students competed in our Regional Skills Conference and did quite well, especially for all of them being first year members of FBLA. Below you will see our results which included 7 first place, 2 second place, and 3 third place finishers.

Our Girls wrestling team competed at our Regional tournament for a chance to compete at the State tournament. And these Ladies made history. Not only did they win the tournament overall, going Back-to-Back champions. We also had 11 total Placers, 9 State Qualifiers and 3 Champions. When you see these girls in class or in the hallways be sure to congratulate them on there amazing accomplishments.

The McKay High School Marching Band traveled to San Francisco to show off their skills, this group has grown so much in the past year, there is a lot to be proud of with this group.

Royal Scots Thespians represented once again at the Oregon Thespians Regionals Acting Competition. So proud of all the kids - so many first timers and all good scores - and 7 of the 15 came home State or National qualifiers!
