ELA News
ELA Focus:
We are beginning a new unit on Early Explorations of North America. We are going to focus on the Introduction, 1492, and Columbus and the Conquistadors.
Standards:
We are focusing on the following standards: RI3.1 and RI3.2.
RI3.1 -- Ask & answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text.
RI3.2 -- Determine the main idea of a text & how key details support the main idea
Assessments:
Your child will take a writing benchmark this week and an ELA benchmark the week of March 4th.

Science News
Science Focus:
This week we will learning about the rock cycle.
Standards:
E.3.7B Students will demonstrate an understanding of the composition of Earth and the
processes which change Earth’s landforms.
Assessment:
Students will be completing work in their science journals. Teachers will use these activities to assess learning.

This week we will review for up coming MVPA (Mastery View Predictive Assessment). The MVPA will give us an idea of what standards your students have mastered and what students they may need more practice with. Please encourage them to do their best!

Your child needs headphones!
Please send a pair of headphones to school with your child. These do not have to be bluetooth. A simple pair of wired headphones that can plug into their school device would be perfect.
