A message from the principal
For many, this is the most wonderful time of the year! We at Andover Elementary would like to do what we can to make it a bit more “wonderful” for members of our community who are dealing with some type of hardship. Our fifth graders started this mission by participating in the GREYSON PROJECT where they delivered bags of decorations to families spending the holidays at Children’s Hospital. We also partner with the Lions Club “Shop With a Cop” program, as well as our staff have adopted several Andover families for the Holidays.
Next week, we will be taking part in the Anoka County Giving Project to support families in the Anoka County community who are in need of some assistance.
Andover Elementary is serving as a collection site for the Giving Project. We will have a “Giving Tree” set up in the entryway by Door 1 where students can hang hats and mittens on the tree and place food, care items and monetary donations underneath it. All donated items will be sent to the Anoka County Armory, where members from a variety of local organizations will sort and bag the goods for pickup by families.
Each day during the week of December 5-9 we will be collecting:
New hats and/or mittens
Store bought non-perishable goods (canned vegetables, soup, noodles, cereal, etc.) Plastic containers, rather than glass, are preferred.
Personal care items (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.)
Friday, December 9th is “Slip into Giving Day”:
Students who bring in a dollar or more, may wear slippers during the school day. (Slippers should not be worn outside or on the bus).
Cash or checks are acceptable. Checks should be made out to Christmas Committee Inc.
All proceeds will be donated to the Anoka County Giving Project.
It is heartwarming to see the generosity and compassion Andover Elementary families show. Thank you in advance for helping make this season a little brighter for those in our community.

Classroom Party Volunteers:
As we approach winter break, many of our classrooms will celebrate with a class party. Some teachers ask for volunteers, while others prefer to have special time with their students and won't be asking volunteers to join them. In the event a teacher asks for volunteers, only approved volunteers will be allowed to sign up. To make sure you qualify, please complete your volunteer application today!
