My name is Heidi Clairmont and I'm the scholarship coordinator at GRHS.

My job is to help you stay on top of scholarship deadlines, research scholarships, and post college reps visiting the high school.

My office is in the counseling office and I'm a resource to help you navigate scholarships this school year! Email: hclairmont@isd318.org or phone 218-327-5760 x41544

MAKE A HABIT OF CHECKING YOUR SCHOOL EMAIL!

Many important announcements will come via email to your school gmail account. Make a habit of checking it daily or at least weekly! Scholarships will come out from announcements like this weekly or bi-weekly and will include time sensitive information and deadlines! You don't want to miss out on something because you didn't know.

DATES TO BE AWARE OF:

There are literally thousands of scholarships that you can apply for nationally. While, I will highlight some of them occasionally, I mainly focus on the local and regional scholarships that are for local students. The following scholarships and links will be promoted through out the year when the applications open and as deadlines approach:

  • FAFSA - Opens in Oct and can be done throughout the year - this will be done every year you are in college and is how you receive your financial aid package.

  • ALWORTH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - STEM students of families that meet income requirements can earn $20,000 for college. Must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and an ACT score of 25 or higher. Opens in November through Jan 15.

  • THUNDERHAWK SCHOLARSHIPS: 40+ local scholarships are managed through GRHS for GRHS and ALC students. Scholarships include: Paul Bunyan Communications, Eagles, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and many, many others. Students complete 1 application for all of the scholarships they qualify for. Application will be available in mid- December and will close on Feb 22, 2022.

  • BLANDIN FOUNDATION EDU GRANTS: Given locally through the Blandin Foundation, grants up to $5,000 are available based on family income. Remember that you can apply to the Blandin Edu Grants until you are 25 as long as you are in school!

  • ICC Foundation Scholarships - Students attending Itasca Community College can apply for $150,000 in scholarships through the ICC Foundation. Application is from Feb 1 - March 1.
