From the Principal Desk—
Hello Hilltopper Families:
It’s hard to believe December is here and we are “heading” into the holidays at Park! We kicked off our week with a “special” PBIS assembly where our students learned how they can earn book vending machine tokens by displaying Topper traits, as well as for achieving academic milestones in Lexia and AR. The students are SO excited! See below in the newsletter for some photos of our first token winners.
As we approach the final weeks of our first academic semester, our students will be taking their MAP and DIBELS winter benchmark assessments. These winter assessments serve as valuable tools to measure your child's academic progress halfway through the school year. The results will help us identify areas of strength and areas that may need additional focus, enabling us to tailor our teaching methods to better meet your child's individual needs.
Please encourage your child to approach these assessments with a positive mindset and remind them that these tests are a way to showcase their learning and growth. Ensure your child gets sufficient rest, eats a healthy breakfast and is on time for school. If your child expresses concerns or apprehensions about the upcoming tests, offer words of encouragement and reassurance. We appreciate your collaboration and support in ensuring a smooth benchmarking experience for our students. By working together, we can create an environment where each child feels empowered to demonstrate their abilities and continue to grow academically.
We look forward to a successful winter assessment period and the continued success of our students. As we enter the holiday season, I again want you to all know how grateful we are that you send us your children each day.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Makee
It's hard to believe, but winter weather is on the way. At Park, students go outside unless it is below 15 degrees, so they must be prepared each day. That means the following items should come to school daily: COAT, BOOTS, SNOW PANTS, HAT, GLOVES, SCARF, etc. The best way to send these items to school is in a reusable grocery bag. Marc's sells big ones that hold everything nicely and seem to last the season. PLEASE MARK EVERYTHING WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME!!!
A few other things to mention:
We do not wear boots in the classroom, so be sure your child has indoor shoes to wear.
Students without the appropriate snow clothes will not be allowed to play in areas with snow, and will have to remain on the blacktop at recess.
Extra socks come in handy, so feel free to keep an extra pair in the snow gear bag.
Students must be able to dress themselves, which includes zipping coats and putting on gloves.
