Horizon Happenings

August 2022

Earlier this month we kicked off the school year with our annual Open House Night. It was wonderful to see all of our students' smiling faces and start off the year right.

New Middle/High Parking Lot on Tower Blvd.

We are excited to have added a new parking lot over the summer. The new parking lot is accessible from Tower Blvd., and is the new designated drop off/pick-up area for our Middle & High School Students. If you are picking up students from sibling dismissal they will be in this new parking lot, as well.

Fun in Middle School Science Class

Ms. Simonovich's 7th and 8th grade classes have been having fun with science experiments.

Paper collaboration project: activity on defining what collaboration looks, sounds and feels like, using a "team" sports analogy as a starting point.

Spaghetti and marshmallow activity: Practice collaboration as well as "cross over" science principles, i.e. using principles from another activity and applying them in this one. Was also a competition to build the highest and strongest using the cross over principles.

Board Game Drive

HSA is looking for board games to add to our collection. Anything age appropriate for ages 5 all the way to 18. If you have a gently used board game or two (with all the pieces still intact) gathering dust, consider donating it to HSA! We’ll take any family board games (ex. Monopoly, Scrabble, Uno), puzzles, decks of cards, or whatever! A bin will be placed in the front desk for donations. As an alternative, we will also take monetary donations to use to purchase new games. If you would like to make a donation, or have questions, please reach out to Mrs. Varner at varner@horizonlorain.org or 440-282-4277 Ext 150. Thank you for all of your support.
