It's That Time of the Year
We all know it. We all feel it. It hits each of us differently, but it still hits us.
I have no doubt that this year, it may hit you a little bit harder. We are implementing a lot of new things at Liberty Middle as we work hard to "RISE UP!" That, in and of itself, can be difficult.
The important thing to remember is that we are on a mission. A mission to give our students everything that they deserve. We must show them that it is not okay to take the easy way out. Some times (often times) life can be hard, but we have to give them the tools that they need to overcome.
With this in mind, I want to share another quote from the book The Power of Positive Leadership...after all, we are ALL leaders in our school. "As a leader you must remember that events are going to happen. Challenges are going to come your way. Your job is not to get stuck in the mud. Don't sink to a lower level. Keep your head up. Look for the opportunity and the good that is coming your way."
I challenge you to do this, and I challenge you to help those around you do this as well. If you need a pep talk, a high five, a hug, or a piece of chocolate, come my way! I will be more than glad to help you along the way!

PICTURE DAY
Monday, October 9th is Fall Picture Day!
The goal is to have 100% of our students, faculty & staff photographed here at LMS.
The photography company will be set up the Gym and ready to go at 8 am.
Each grade of the MORNING Related arts teachers starting with 6th grade at 8 am will report to the gym with their students as soon as the bell rings. We will have barcode stickers for each student to hand/give to the photographer when their time happens. Pam Gibson is working on a distribution plan for these stickers. She hopes they will be in your possession BEFORE you bring your class to the gym.
6th Grade - 7th Grade & 8th Grade Teachers - During your planning period please come to gym and go to the front of the line to get your picture made. (PLEASE AND THANK YOU).
All other Faculty & Staff - please plan on coming to the gym between 11 AM and 12 noon to get your picture made.

Words from Wendy
Photo 1 below - Here’s a nice technique to help students close read a text so that you can help strengthen their pulling of textual evidence while working through a text together.
Photo 2 below - And here’s a nice technique that Lori Gwinn shared with us from Kylene Beers, and it is a Book, Head, and Heart Framework that could become bookmarks on desks. When students are reading independently, they can still make connections using the Book, Head, Heart Framework, and teachers can work with them during conferring using this same technique. It is an easy way to confer with students on books that run the gamut of disciplines and genres.
