William T. Sherman
Sherman was born in Lancaster, Ohio, on February 8, 1820. One of 11 children. In 1836 Sherman started going to West Point Military School, he graduated 4 years later, sixth in his class. In 1850, he married Eleanor Boyle Ewing.
