PCSD keeps track of your benefit choices and personal information through our benefits portal, Employee Navigator. Keeping your personal information updated helps us validate enrollment elections made during open enrollment, or life event changes made through the school year. Our teachers have a great opportunity to attend the "Show up for Teachers" conference, an initiative of the First Lady Abby Cox. This conference focuses on educator mental wellness and life skills – helping educators to cultivate the skills they will need for success in the workplace and community. The "Show up for Teachers" conference is at the Mountain American Expo Center on July 19th. Registration for all educators will open on March 7th. Provo City School District is only guaranteed 55 spots for our teachers. Learn more on the employee website post exp.3.31
For: All Employees
This will be the easiest step challenge you have done all year. Here are the rules of the challenge:
- Track steps from March 1st to March 28th.
- You can track your steps by phone, wearable device, Virgin Pulse, any tracking app, or google tracking sheet. Anyway you track your steps is permissible with this challenge.
- Show your Wellness Manager or Cat Miner a record of your steps.
- Deadline to report steps is April 12th.
- This in NOT a Virgin Pulse challenge, but you can track step there.
How simple is that? If you missed out on getting your second activity campaign this is the one for you. Here is a link to a google step tracker spreadsheet. If you have any questions, please contact Cat Miner or your Wellness Manager. post exp.3.28
For: Elementary Teachers
The state is running a few more make-up sessions for all LETRS units 1-8. If you are missing any of the Units that you should have done by this point, please contact me ASAP so I can get you into one of these sessions. This will be the last opportunity for those who started work on LETRS last year. post exp.3.31

If you have received a notice that your Utah Professional Teaching License will expire, this information will help guide you through the process as many steps to renewal have changed. Visit the employee website for the information post expires 5.30

Each year, the choirs from Centennial Middle, Dixon Middle, Provo High, and Timpview High join forces to bring a choral masterwork to life. This year, the choirs will be performing Gabriel Faure’s “Requiem in D minor”. The concert will be held:

Are you interested in learning how to use mathematics assessments and the formative assessment process as a tool to advocate for student learning and surface student thinking/ways of doing? Trish French, Elementary Mathematics Specialist, and Lindsey Henderson, Secondary Mathematics Specialist are assembling Math 6, Math 7 and Math 8 teams who will learn about the power of the formative assessment process and then create a formative assessment test/task bank for the major work of the grade to be used state-wide. Central Utah Water and UTSTA have teamed up to provide a PD Learning Day! Come learn how to use models and experiments to teach students about the engineering design method. Learn more on the employee website. post exp.4.29

The USBE K-12 Mathematics Book Studies continue to be a popular opportunity. There is a wait list for Building Thinking Classrooms and Productive Math Struggle, but all other books are available at no cost! Reflect as you read in a Canvas course associated with your book title and earn 1 USBE Credit Hour upon completion of a final project. Nebo School District has partnered with the UVU Math Department to offer all courses for the Middle Level Math endorsement in their district. All courses are reimbursable through the STEM EIP grant and are geared towards working teachers. Learn more on the employee website. post exp.3.31

Bring BYU Kinnect to your school! Their dance company provides rich dance arts learning experiences for elementary students based on the Utah Fine Arts Core. Submit your student's creative work today! Showcase your student's creations this year at the district wide "This is Us" Creative Arts Gala, April 11 at Provo High. This is a chance to really highlight those special creations you see pass through your classroom. We want to see those cute preschool pieces as well as the beautifully crafted high schooler art and everything in between. This program invites fourth-grade students to write an essay or create a project concerning an incident in the life of one of their pioneer ancestors, or an incident or feature of early Utah history. Are you pursuing a STEM, Math or Ed Tech endorsement? Did you know you can be reimbursed for tuition and course materials? The Utah Legislature has allocated funding to the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) to use to incentivize educators across the state to achieve endorsements in the STEM subjects. The Ultimate Robot Competition challenges teams of students to create a robot from an Ultimate Robot Kit.
