Missouri Assessment Program Information
Attention Families of 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders
Your child will be participating in the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Grade-Level Assessments and it will be administered online. Below you’ll find general information about the assessments. We ask that you make every attempt to ensure that your child is present during their grade level testing dates/times and that they are prepared for testing. Your child’s teacher will give you specific dates for their class’s testing schedule.
General Information
The Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) Grade-Level Assessments evaluate students’ progress toward the Missouri Learning Standards. The MAP includes assessments in the subject areas of English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics, and science. Grades 3 and 4 will take the ELA and the mathematics assessment. Grade 5 will take all three subject area assessments.
The MAP Grade-Level Assessments include multiple types of questions or items:
Selected Response (also known as multiple choice) items are composed of a question followed by a series of possible responses. Students must select the correct response or responses.
Constructed Response or Short Text items require students to supply an appropriate response rather than making a selection from a list of choices.
Performance Tasks/Events allow students to work through more complicated items using real-world scenarios.
Technology Enhanced items make use of technology in the presentation of the item, the ways in which students respond, or both. For example, students might watch a video and then drag and drop labels into a diagram, or click on a specific part of a text to provide a response.
MAP Spring Testing
Your child’s teacher will give you specific dates for their class’s testing schedule.
Students who receive accommodations and modifications to their testing schedule may also receive communication from their SSD teacher with his/her individual testing schedule.
In the fall, you will receive your child’s Individual Student Report which will give you information about his or her achievement in terms of the content and skills assessment by the MAP test at his or her grade level. Your child’s Individual Student Report will include an Assessment Level, which will describe his or her performance for the grade level and content area as Below Basic, Basic, Proficient, or Advanced. This report will also include a short description of the knowledge and skills that are typically demonstrated by students in each Assessment Level for that grade level and content area.
How Do I Help My Child Prepare?
Your child is more than ready for these assessments. We have worked hard all year learning and covering the Missouri Learning Standards. We are confident in their hard work and ability to do their very best. You can help your child by doing the following during the testing window:
Eat a big, healthy breakfast on testing days to help your child’s stamina during testing.
Get a good night’s sleep the night before a testing day. Children need more than 8-10 hours of sleep before testing to ensure their minds are ready for the hard work they will have to put forth.
Help encourage them and relieve any stress they might be feeling about these assessments. More than anything, it is the unknown that will cause them stress. Just show them that you are confident in them and proud of them. Try not to rattle off a bunch of reminders right before they get on the bus or get out of the car.
Be on time and be present on the day of testing. Testing will start as early as 8:55 a.m. each day. Please help ensure that your child is on time for school. Additionally, please reschedule appointments during testing dates.
Counselor Corner
As the weather gets nice and our days get a little longer, take some time to go outside and soak up some extra Vitamin D. Experts agree that exposing kids to more sunlight can improve their mental and physical health—and research suggests anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes of outdoor play a day is enough to see major results.
For more information on the benefits of sunshine and how to sneak a little more sunshine in your life please click on this National Geographic Link.
Now go have some fun in the sun!
Class Placement Information:
In preparation for the 23-24 school year, teachers will soon begin to develop class lists. To do this, teachers use all of the possible information to create classes that are balanced and attempt to meet all of the needs of the individual students. We do not allow parents to choose a teacher; however, we would like you to provide any information that would be helpful in placement (peer relations, learning style, specific needs, etc). This is not necessary to complete, but if you would like to share, please complete the form below and submit no later than April 9th, 2023.
(Please complete a separate form for each separate student)
Family Class Placement Feedback
To plan as effectively as possible for the upcoming school year, we would like to know if your child(ren) will NOT be returning to Concord next year. If this is the case, please complete this form and submit it by April 9th.

Medicaid Renewal: Important Update
MO HealthNet (Missouri Medicaid) is now requiring families to update their addresses and possibly their eligibility every year. Families that do not follow the steps below will be dropped from Medicaid and have to reapply, so it is important that families eligible for Medicaid coverage do the following:
Update your address if you have moved. This can be done online, by visiting a local resource center, or by calling 855-373-4636.
Watch for a letter in the mail. Renewal letters should arrive between April 2023 and April 2024. You will need to follow the instructions on the letter you receive to complete the process.
For more information, please visit https://mydss.mo.gov/renew.
