MoB (Matters of Business)
Edgewood's Weekly Staff Update for the week of 10/8/18
We are committed to the journey of developing EACH child to be an inspired learner and a caring, contributing citizen.
Learning Notes
That is the work that we are striving to do this year.
1) We identified promise standards that we will work to have every child meet.
2) This week, we created individual/small group plans to support students who need different steps (or leaps) to meet those standards.
We leave this round of data meetings with some of the most solid plans we've generated for specific student needs in my tenure @ Edgewood. Let the work begin!
TCB (Taking Care of Business)
- 3rd-5th grade teachers, do you have a student that excels in writing? As in years past, we have an opportunity to send 2 students to the Art of Writing Conference. Please let me know if you think you have a student who would benefit.
- Because we are a state school of character, we're having the LACCs cohort visit us on 11/29. We're stars! This should be a fun opportunity to reflect and share out the work we do. I'm always reminded that being a school of character doesn't mean that we're perfect. It means that you keep working. More to come!
- Please use a Share/portion of morning meeting next week to come up with your class evidence of respectful behaviors. The start of a chart is pictured below. This does not need to be fancy!
ELL Tip of the Week
This engaging strategy is built to hold all students accountable and engaging in conversation. Students have an opportunity to share their thinking with a partner or several partners. It focuses in on the skills needed to be a effective listener and speaker. Another name for this activity is Inside-Outside Circles.
Video time: about 2 minutes
