Seasonal Updates Fall 2020

Seasonal Greetings!

Dear Families,

What a pleasure it was for our team of educators to meet you during our first ever, virtual Back to School Night! We had a wonderful evening sharing highlights of the great work and learning happening in our classrooms! Though we missed having you here in person and the energy it creates in our building, your online engagement and positive feedback are appreciated and helped make the night a success!

In this supplemental edition, please take note of the upcoming seasonal activities! We look forward to your involvement and support!

Ms. Lacy

Week of Respect Activities and Spirit Days - October 26-30

VES recognizes the importance of developing and maintaining a safe, supportive and positive school climate that encourages academic success, social/emotional and cultural competence and is free from bullying.

Our counselors and teachers will engage students in Mindful Moment activities to support these goals. Activities may include poetry, positive self-talk videos, interactive games that focus on respecting yourself, respecting others and respecting the environment.

To make the week even more festive, Villagers are invited to participate in the following Week of Respect Spirit Days:

  • Monday 10/26 : Respect is No Sweat! Wear exercise clothes or sweats.
  • Tuesday 10/27: Celebrate our Differences! Wear two different socks, shoes, or mismatched items!
  • Wednesday 10/28: Dreaming of Respect! Pajama Day! Wear your cozy pajamas!
  • Thursday 10/29: Respect the Earth! Wear rainbow many colors can you wear?
  • Friday 10/30: Respect your Choice! Wear VES or Monty clothes! OR your Halloween Costume!

Halloween Happenings - Friday October 30th

Villagers may choose to wear Halloween costumes or VES/Monty gear on Friday, October, 30th. We will kickoff the day together with an entertaining Morning News Readers' Theater performance by VES teachers!

Halloween related activities will be offered by teachers during the school day. Alternative activities will be available to students that do not celebrate Halloween.

If you are planning activities as a family please review the CDC Tips for a Safe and Healthy Halloween, the NJ Department of Health and the Montgomery Health Department.

Fourth Grade Peer Partners will be promoting our annual Trick or Treat for UNICEF Drive. It will be virtual and we look forward to your support. Last year, VES raised more than $2500! We hope to meet or surpass that goal this year!

Please read the article below for more information.

VES' Virtual Trick or Treat for UNICEF Drive

UNICEF Drive - Once again, Village Elementary School students will be participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF which is going virtual this year! Students will be learning how UNICEF supports children around the world.

Every October, the money UNICEF raises through its Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign saves countless children's lives - and we don't want them to miss out this year, when many children need it more than ever.

Please use this link to support Trick or Treat for UNICEF virtually this year! Thank you so much!
