First Week and Kirkwood Schools in the News
It's been a great first week back with our students. We appreciate everyone's patience as arrival and dismissal routes changed at some schools due to Prop R projects.
In case you missed it, KSD schools were in the news this week celebrating our first week back. Some highlights include:
- Sydney Stallworth KSDK News covering our first day and sharing the story about the new ADA compliant ramp added at Robinson Elementary made possible by Prop R to ensure all students and staff can make it to class safely and efficiently on the first day of school. These small changes have a big impact. "It's a feeling of belonging that everyone can enter our school in the same way," said Dr. OH.
- Our KHS Seniors had some fun talking about the school year ahead with Tim Ezell from FOX 2.
- Thank you to the Webster Kirkwood Times for their First Day coverage at Keysor.
We enjoyed all your first day photos shared with us via #KSDBTS.
Here's to a great year!
KSD Talks
KSD Launches Let's Talk
We want to make it easier for you to communicate with the district. We’re introducing Let’s Talk, an online customer service solution that provides a convenient way for you to start a conversation with our district.
Let’s Talk is a tool to ensure you receive a timely, accurate response — every time. You can expect a response from us within two business days.
Have a question about Prop R? Concerns about safety? Know a teacher or staff member who should be thanked? Visit the Let's Talk section on the KSD website and select a topic to start a conversation. Please reach out about anything on your mind!
You also always speak directly to your student's school or contact your student's teacher. Click here for our staff directory.
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Process
The Kirkwood School District (KSD) promotes student success through collaborative teamwork that enables each student to learn at their full potential. This process, MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support), uses information gathered through classroom observation and assessments to determine how our staff can work toward meeting each individual child’s needs. The MTSS process provides multi-tiered levels of support around academic, behavioral and social/emotional goals that include:
• High-quality classroom instruction for all students (Universal)
• Screening all children three times a year (fall, winter, and spring) using brief assessments to get a quick check on where students are performing relative to a national group of children in the same grade.
• Frequent progress monitoring (brief assessments) to evaluate the effectiveness of our supplemental instruction
• Supplemental and intensive instruction/interventions that support individual student needs and are delivered in addition to Universal instruction (Supplemental and Intensive)
• Ongoing communication with families about student progress toward goals.
