Elizabeth Ide Elementary School
A Message from your Principal, Mrs. Katie Johnson
Dear Families,
As part of our commitment to physical activity and well-being, all elementary students are provided with a minimum of 30 minutes of recess within the school day. We value the importance of outdoor play and aim to go outside as much as possible.
However, in the interest of their safety and health, we have specific guidelines for outdoor play during inclement weather. We will keep the students inside for recess if:
- the "feels like" temperature falls below 10 degrees.
- it's raining.
- extremely heavy snow is falling.
- there are strong/unsafe winds.
To ensure that your child can fully participate in outdoor recess, please make sure they are equipped with the proper clothing for the weather. This includes warm coats, gloves, hats, and proper footwear for cold weather, as well as raincoats and boots for wet conditions. While our students are enjoying playing in the snow, this has resulted in many students with wet pants. To ensure the comfort and well-being of your child, it is helpful if they have an extra pair of pants at school.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us ensure the safety and well-being of all our students.
Respectfully,
Katie Johnson
Progress Reports
Progress reports will come home with students who are not meeting grade level expectations when we return to in-person learning. If you do not receive a progress report for your child, and would like to discuss your child's growth/progress, I encourage you reach out to your child's teacher directly. Open communication between home and school is essential in supporting students' academic progress, and the teacher will be more than happy to provide the necessary information and support. We are committed to working closely with families to ensure that every student's needs are addressed, and your proactive involvement is invaluable in this process.
2nd Graders: Intramural Floor Hockey
Intramural floor hockey is being offered for your child before school. If your child would like to attend, just show up! There is no need to sign up or any cost to you. These sessions will be from 6:55 until 7:30 AM. This is a great way for students to get some extra exercise in a slightly competitive setting. Your child can come on any morning that works for your family. Morning intramurals will run from January 10th - February 2nd -Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday only (12 Sessions). Any questions feel free to reach out to me at bkukulski@ccsd66.org.
Thank you,
