Authoritarian Parenting's (Over Parenting) Effects on Children
Parenting styles can have a wide range of effects on children, and authoritarian parenting, in particular, can produce detrimental effects in children growing up in such strict households. Not only does over parenting lead to inflexibility of children later in life, it may also stifle creativity and lead to depression. Despite potentially lowering the rates of teenage delinquency, authoritarian parenting may create unrealistic expectations that lead to stress and anxiety. In addition, children who remain under authoritarian conditions may have trouble coping and develop poor social skills due as a result.
