Principal's Message

Dear Ride Families,

This week's focus was on love, friendship, our February character trait - Integrity, and preparing for our Valentine's party. There was a lot of discussion about being friends and how we can show one another that we are friends. As well as being respectful, kind and doing the right thing even when none is looking. The classes had a great time collecting and decorating their Valentine's boxes! The Valentine's Day Parties were fantastic! It was a much needed break and a great time to enjoy each other. The kids had so much fun. Thank you for all of your contributions to make this a special day at Sally K. Ride.

I hope you can take this four day weekend to stay warm and possibly enjoy some winter activities that we don't typically have the opportunity to do (down here in Tx).

We completed the first half of the third grading period last week. The Progress Reports will be open to parents in PAC (Parent Access Center) on Tuesday, February 16th. This is a great time to sit down and praise student accomplishments and set goals as they move into the final half of the grading period. I encourage you to contact your teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

** Special Note -- If your child is tested for COVID, please keep them home until you receive the test results. They can participate in Zoom, SeeSaw or Canvas and not be counted absent.

Ride Sprit Days are Fridays!! Wear your school shirt every Friday - PTO has shirts and sweatshirts in stock and ready for delivery! Ride PTO

Enjoy the weekend,

Megan Burnham

A Miracle for Ollie

Ride Challengers!

We have an opportunity to help one of our own Ride Families that is in need. Below is a link to watch the story of "ollie" and "Addi". They were featured on KHOU- Channel 11 last Wednesday. If you didn't get a chance to see it, please take a moment to click the link below.

Addi is one of our youngest students who attends our PPCD program, and Ollie is her younger brother. They both have a degenerative genetic disorder called Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). Unfortunately, Addi has progressed passed the point of intervention, however, Ollie still has a chance for a miracle. Please join us in helping this family get the miracle they are needing to save Ollie's life.

As campuses prepare for the start of the fourth grading period, we know that some families may be considering changing instructional platforms. If you would like to move your child from remote/online instruction to face-to-face instruction or vice versa, please contact the PEIMS Clerk at your child’s campus by the end of the school day on Tuesday, February 16th. The fourth grading period begins on Monday, March 22nd.

COVID Tracing

There are likely many opportunities for students to gather outside of school with friends and loved ones. During this time, please express to your child the importance of taking precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing masks, frequently washing hands, and social distancing. We all must work together as partners to balance the need for social interaction and celebration with keeping our schools open to in-person learning. Our partnership is critical in order to keep students and staff safe and in school throughout the holiday season. Should your child test positive for COVID-19, we ask that you email your child’s campus at contactride@conroeisd.net so we can provide the appropriate support and make the required notifications. Thank you.
