Reminder: Late Start on Tuesday, January 23

Tuesday, January 23 is our second late start day of the year. Students should arrive at school no earlier than 9:45 a.m. for a 10 a.m. start to the day. Buses will pick children up approximately two and a half hours after their usual pick-up time.

Teachers will be using their time for curriculum revision and updates as well as finalizing changes to our Program of Studies.

Term II Report Cards

Term II report cards will be published electronically at the close of the school day on Friday, January 26, 2018. Student progress on achieving our school's 21st Century Learning Expectations will be noted in each class on this official document.

Please refer any questions you have to the specific classroom teacher or your student's guidance counselor.

SBIRT screening: Week #1

The state-mandated Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) program began this week in our Freshmen Academy class. More than 38 percent of our freshmen were screened. All screenings will be conducted confidentially by our school nurse or guidance counselors in private one-on-one sessions.

This year Joseph Case High School is screening grade 9 students privately about the use of alcohol, marijuana and other substances. The goal of this program is to let the students know that we are available to reinforce healthy decisions and to assist them in obtaining support if needed for substance use related problems.

SBIRT screenings are scheduled through the end of February.

Third Annual Mr. Joseph Case High School - February 2

The third annual Mr. Joseph Case High School has been finalized for Friday evening on February 2. This special "Groundhog's Day" edition of Mr. JCHS will be more fun than ever! Mark your calendars for the fundraising event -- hosted by the Case High Student Council -- that benefits all of the clubs and activities at our high school as well as helps us celebrate many students inside and outside of the classroom. Ticket sales begin during all three lunches on Monday, January 29.

Last Day of School reminder

With the two snow days from earlier this month, the last day of school as of January 19 will be Friday, June 15. Any subsequent "no school" day this year will move the close of the year to the week of June 18. Please be careful in making early summer vacation plans.

And finally: Term III starts Monday, January 22

Hard to believe that the 2017-2018 school year is half-finished today. Students in some semester-based courses will switch on Monday.

It's also a great time to look at successes of the first semester and plan to build on them, while iterating in other areas that might need a tweak or some additional growth.

Commit to a growth mindset that hard work will reap many benefits. You will have a better second half of the school year no matter what your entry point is when you embrace this.
