MARINER WEEKLY!

June 1, 2021

MENTAL HEALTH MONDAY--LET’S TAKE TIME ON TUESDAY!

This week, please enjoy High School North CAP Student Representative’s Molly Herr’s morning announcement.

As we move forward into the end of our school year and have observed the month of May as Mental Health Awareness Month, today we are going to focus on self-care. Talk about how you care for yourself and how you make yourself feel satisfied and happy. Personal self-care--there is nothing wrong with dedicating time to your own well-being! Take a little bit of time each day to focus on yourself and things that make you happy or alleviate stress. You can treat yourself by going out to get your favorite meal, meditating, playing sports, working out, reading, or drawing. Choose something that makes you feel happy or good. Take some time to celebrate yourself. We are proud of each and everyone of you. So, take some time to celebrate your greatness. You deserve it!

If you need to talk to someone about how you’re feeling, 2NDFLOOR is a confidential and anonymous helpline for New Jersey's youth. They are here to help you find solutions to the problems that you face at home, at school, or at play. If you need to talk about an issue or problem that you are facing, call or text 888-222-2228.

ACADEMIC LETTERS

Congratulations to all of our students who have achieved an Academic Letter for the 2020-21 school year. In order to earn and Academic Letter, a student must earn an unweighted 3.7 grade point average with no grade lower than a C.

Unfortunately, due to current restrictions and the large number of students being honored, we are unable to hold this celebration in person. Attached, you will find a virtual presentation honoring each recipient. First time winners receive a blue and gold TR. This has been mailed home. Returning winners receive a pin. This can not be mailed but can be picked up anytime in the mail office.

SENIOR SURVEY

Every senior MUST complete a senior survey. The senior survey is how Guidance confirms where your transcript/records should be sent to. Whether a student is attending a 4 yr college, 2 yr college, technical school, going to the military or to work, we need a survey from EVERY senior. This year the survey is a google form, which can be accessed at this link: https://forms.gle/6MLmTjXqx67sNtUk9

If you have not already done so, please fill out your survey ASAP. See your Guidance Counselor with any questions.

Petition to Name the HSN Auditorium

Please see the attached petition to name our newly renovated auditorium after Class of 1982 HSN graduate, Maria Ressa. Ms. Ressa was named 2018 Time Magazine's Woman of the Year and has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize! Ms. Ressa was involved in all facets of school life as a Mariner and we feel it fitting that her name represent all students - past, present, and future. Please consider signing this petition.
