From your Superintendent
Check out the Superintendent's Chariho April E Update.
As a reminder, if your child is registered for in-person learning the only time they should be accessing distance learning (DL) is if they have symptoms, are in quarantine/isolation, their class/district/school is placed on distance learning per the district/school administration or the child was registered for DL as their learning scenario.
April 13- School Committee Meeting- 7:00 pm -You will need to register using this link. Agendas are posted 48 hours prior to the meeting per the Open Meetings Act. Agendas can be found on our Website by selecting the District Information tab, clicking the Calendar Section, and locating the date of the meeting as well as on the Secretary of State’s website. Please note the School Committee meetings are moving to a Webinar format starting 4/13/2021. You will still be required to register, but the platform will look different.
Message about Traveling
From Superintendent Picard: As many families are contemplating travel during April Break, we wanted to remind all families of our travel policy. Travel for the Chariho District is defined as going to another state to attend any event/performance, family gathering/party/reunion with people outside of your immediate household. It does not matter if it is overnight or a day trip. This is the preferred response of the RI Department of Health as well as what is required per our school committee-approved policy, as a negative COVID test only indicates that the virus is not currently present. In the event that there are families who must travel, we ask that you inform your school principal so that we can accurately record absences and communicate with our staff about attendance expectations and plans for continuity of education, upon return. As a reminder, students who travel out of state to any location with a positivity rate greater than 5% (those states are listed here, and the list is constantly updated) will require a 14-day quarantine upon return.

An unrestricted $1500 stipend is available for any organization (school or district) that registers a minimum of 75 participants.
The ADA is looking for community organizations and groups to help increase our impact through strategic collaborations. The program for the youth starts with a special Project Power Box and Activity Journal delivered right to the registered youth’s door. In addition to virtual “group” meetings with friends and group leaders during one-hour sessions, twice a week, participants can expect:
- Games and friendly competitions
- Interactive lessons and discussions
- Family engagement activities and social media challenges
ADA will provide in support of organizations:
- Promotional flyers and social media images
- Online registration platform at www.diabetes.org/projectpower
