Hello Centerview Families,
I think we’ve turned the corner and it’s warmin’ up folks! The weather is so inviting to our students and I love that they are able to burn off energy on the playground and in the evening at home. It does make a difference as they learn and grow in their on-campus and virtual classrooms. I do have to say that it makes a difference for me, too!
Please remember it’s a short week. There is no school on Friday, April 2. What might that mean for you and your family? 60 plus degrees and sunny! Okay, I’m done playing weatherman…let’s move on!
SLP Schools Online
In the middle of all the spring activities and events, we are also looking ahead. As we learn from this year, we are expanding our full-time school for online learning for the 2021-2022 school year. We’ve offered a full-time online high school experience for many years and we are expanding it to all grade levels, K-12.
There are several unique components to the SLP Schools Online experience – and different approaches by grade level. Take a look at the information in today’s newsletter and complete the interest form to get connected to additional information or to submit your questions.
State testing – MCAs/MTAS
Each spring, students across Minnesota take the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) or the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills (MTAS). Centerview students in grades 3 and 4 take these tests. The tests measure how well schools are doing in advancing state standards for reading, math, and science.
This year, we are being required to administer the MCA/MTAS tests in person, and we will do so in April and May. Families with students in the identified grades received a message earlier today with more information about the tests and the process to opt-out if you choose.
By the way, your kids have been great! In such an abnormal year they have been rollin’ with what’s right in front of them…unfazed and smilin’ with masks on. That has a lot to do with YOU! Thanks for listening, prepping and responding to your kids on a daily basis as they stay persistent and responsive to our current reality.
Stay healthy and as always continue to learn!
My best,
Mike

Interested in learning more? SLP Schools Online expands to K-12
Spring Lake Park Schools is expanding its 13-year-old online school from grades 9-12 to all grade levels for the 2021-2022 school year. A year of learning through the pandemic has created an interest in the next phase of our Spring Lake Park Schools approach to online learning.
Students who choose SLP Schools Online will cover the same concepts as their in-school peers but tailored to an online environment. The focus is on helping students develop both academic and life competencies aligned to state standards. Learning advocates (SLP teachers) are connected to each learner to help guide and support the learning.
